OSCIA has established itself as a leader in agricultural stewardship program delivery for more than 35 years, working with governments and farmers to support environmental stewardship activities through education based programs and cost-share funding opportunities. We are a not-for-profit farm organization whose mission is to facilitate responsible economic management of soil, water, air and crops through development and communication of innovative farming practices. Our membership has a significant presence in all agricultural areas of the province and across all major sectors.

As a Web Developer you will be responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining OSCIA’s websites. This includes all aspects of the website, such as layout, functionality, backend database and user experience based on general best practices, guidelines, and requirements. You will create aesthetically pleasing website designs with functional, user-friendly interfaces and clear navigation for optimal usability.

This role will report to the IT Manager. The ultimate salary offered will fall within a predetermined range and is commensurate with experience.

Regional Communications Coordinator, Quinte Region

Do you have a keen interest in networking with local farmers and ag-related businesses?

Quinte Soil and Crop Improvement Association is a not-for-profit, largely volunteer organization representing forward-thinking farmers, of all commodities, who share a keen interest in advancing sustainability. QSCIA is a local affiliate of the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association. We are actively looking for someone with ag-related experience to fill the part-time role of Regional Communications Coordinator.

Job duties include:
     • contributing to the regional newsletter
     • assisting in recruitment activities for new members
     • updating website pages (web design experience is considered an asset)
     • posting on social media (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
     • attending and reporting on local ag-related events while promoting association membership
     • managing advertising and subscriber accounts
     • helping to prepare grant applications and related claim reports for submission

This is a part-time position. Time commitments vary throughout the year but are anticipated to average 3-4 hours per week.

Senior Financial Officer

Contract Position – 2-year term June 2023 – June 2025

The Senior Financial Officer is a member of the Finance team and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The position will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to satisfy the reporting requirements of our funding partners, board of directors and members.

 Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development of the data management system. Prepare and process producer payments for program assistance funding; reconcile and distribute AGR1 tax forms.
  • Develop/maintain program budget tracking spreadsheets and monitor to ensure funding is allocated as outlined in the funding agreement.
  • Ensure credibility of financial reports by providing timely and accurate analysis of program budgets to CFO, Program Managers, and funding agents.
  • Lead role in the supervision and verification of Accounts Payable and/or Payroll processing and associated tax reporting.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of accounts, sub ledgers and related system generated transactions.
  • Prepare bi-annual HST rebate returns.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports and present them to the board and/or funding agents.
  • Cross train on other financial duties to provide a backup resource when required.
  • Work cooperatively and collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer, Executive Director, Program Managers and Program Partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Greenbelt Foundation - Soil Health Specialist and Support

The Foundation is currently seeking to recruit a Soil Health Specialist. However, as an alternative approach to an internal Foundation staff role, we would welcome expressions of interest from leading farming and agricultural organizations with experience in recruitment and engagement of farmers in research programs involving soil health or other best management practices. A lead individual would be required, but organizations may wish to identify a small team or networks that could fulfill the functions outlined in the document here.
