Cover crops are a key component of building soil health, cycling nutrients, and practicing ecological and regenerative agriculture- but it takes some learning to find the right cover cropping mixes, timing, termination strategies, and rotations for your context. In this panel, join several market gardeners who are passionate about cover cropping as they share what’s worked for them and what they’ve learned along the way, and answer your cover cropping questions. This session will focus on cover cropping strategies for market gardens that operate at a human-powered and/or “BCS scale” rather than a tractor scale; however, many of the lessons learned will be transferable to other scales and equipment types.
Moderator: Angie Koch- Fertile Ground CSA
Panelists: Brenda Hsueh (Black Sheep Farm), Ekow Stone (FoodShare), Jesse Way (Milky Way Farm), Martina Schaefer (Spiral Farm)
